JKB Live on CBS TampaBay’s Studio 10 this morning!

Filed under: News — JK @ 2:21 pm

Very cool!  We got a chance today to play to our first studio audience on Michelle and Tim’s Studio 10, Tampabay10′s Local CBS mid-morning show, LIVE!  First up was our song “In Your Heart” which is gaining national recognition thanks to CBS’ Early Show’s Living Room Live Battle of the Bands Contest, for which the JKB won week 5, with an astounding 47% of the votes.  Following our LIVE television debut, Michelle and Tim interviewed our own JK and gave some much appreciated plugs to their viewers on the band’s website - www.johnkellyband.com – as well as instructions on the next round of voting in the contest.   The show closed out with JKB’s “Still”.  Check out the video feed by going to studio10.tv under Music & Bands.

Stay Tuned!  JKB’s Television run is not over – On Aug 13, JKB will go up against 2 more bands on week 8 of CBS’ Early Show Living Room Live Battle of the Bands and the winner and second Ultimate Finalist will be announced on August 16, following 2 days of voting.   So, again, thanks to everyone who is helping JKB with their very welcome exposure these days.  We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you all!

 Peace,
JKB (john, tim, geni and jeff)

New Gigs For the JKBand

Filed under: Latest — JK @ 3:46 pm

Hey everyone… how goes it on this fine Thursday afternoon? I’m happy to report the JKB has got a full schedule next month with a couple of new venues. We’ll be at Java Nirvana on Friday, June 1st at 7pm for an Art Walk. The following weekend, we’re playing Friday, June 8th for a private function held by Tampa Bay Watch and Saturday, June 9th at The Old Northeast Tavern from 7-10pm. Friday, June 15th, we’re playing at The Dunedin Brewery with new friend and cohort, Dean Johanesen of the Human Condition. Friday, June 22nd and 29th, we will be playing at a new venue for the band, the Fly Bar & Restaurant at 10pm. And finally, Sat June 23rd at The Old Northest Tavern.
The Fly Bar & Restaurant looks like a great place for the band to expand our audiance. It will be our first venture into Tampa with the new line up.

We’ve also started recording the new album. I’m pretty excited about this venture as it will be more of a “band” vibe. For the past few years I’ve been recording my songs on my own with some help from various drummers but this time I’m going for the sound the JKB has been creating at our shows for the last year or so… so keep an eye out for the neww CD, “The Stage”.

Last Weekend – Cinco de Mayo

Filed under: Latest — JK @ 12:59 pm

Hey all you John Kelly supporters. Last weekend at The Old Northeast Tavern was a complete success and one of the funnest gigs I’ve had in some time. The band played a bunch of my new tunes and some old favorites. Towards the end of the night we were blessed with the talents of T.C. Carr backing us up on harmonica. I even got to jam with him a bit. That was a real treat and I think the rest of the bar would agree. We kicked some butt.
So T.C., if your out there… I sure would love to do that again – it was a pleasure having you sit in. The cool thing was that “Blues Fest” was going on and there were planty of great musicians floating around the area. I know T.C. was to play with Dickey Betts from the Allman Brothers Band, so, the players were definitely a plentyful.

Thanks to everyone who made it out Saturday night and very special thanks to all those who purchase my CD “Forgiven”. The Band is in the studio right now finishing up my next CD “The Stage”. On this record I’m recording the band in its current line up. So keep a look out for it. It will be under the Name… “The John Kelly Band”

Wow… this year is really moving along. Well, how is everyone? Hopefully doing well if not great. We just spent the last few days with some of our best friends in the world or, as we like to call them, “family”. Dustin Overbeek, singer songwriter, and his beautiful wife, Lauren. I had three gigs in two days and Dustin lent a hand on guitar and vocals. We also had a great time sitting around the fire out back strummin’ (back and fourth) – new songs and old. He’s a great songwriter from Nashville, TN (where we used to live). Now he gets to take vacations here in Florida to hang with his old buddy.

The JKBand is sounding better than ever. Our gig at The Old Northeast Tavern on St. Patricks Day was a blast. We then moved on over to Abbey Road Pub for a closer. We had great feedback and want to thank everyone who helped fill the seats.

I’m still working on the list of songs for my new record, “The Stage”. It’s pretty close and I should begin recording in a few short weeks. Cannot wait to get some new material out there. A new sound as well. Please check the web site johnkelly.biz for dates and other news.

My songs are now available for purchase through Snocap and will SOON be available on iTunes, Real Networks Rhapsody service, AudioLunchbox and Sony Connect. You can purchase them right now from my website johnkelly.biz or my MySpace page.

Well, all for now. Have a great day and do something nice for some one… J

Christmas Spirit

Filed under: Latest — JK @ 11:33 am

Hello all…. I hope your all feelling the Christmas spirit by now. Its running wild in our house. The little guys are very excited and have been anxiously awaiting the big day.
We had a wonderful time at the private xmas party last weekend for some lawyers and judges of the St. Petersburg, FL area. We played at one of their homes in Seminole and I’ll tell ya, it was like beeing back in Tennessee. He lived on 4 acres and we played in a barn opposite a great big John Deer tractor. It was awesome. A big camp fire to close the night… great job guys. Thanks to you all for having the John Kelly Band provide the tunes for your party.
We’re still heading up most every Saturday night at The Old Northeast Tavern. I think though, in the new year, we might be playing only a couple times a month so keep a look out on the dates page of the John Kelly site.
My CD Forgiven is still for sale as are the previous 3 CDs so if interested just go to my site and purchase one. I’m still working on my next CD to be recorded at Hideaway Recording Studio, Inc. – still pulling all the songs together. Hopefully by summer 2007 it will be complete.
Well, happy holidays to you all and don’t forget to spread some love around… any way you can! Peace… j

And then there was blogging…

Filed under: Latest — JK @ 9:29 am

Hello all… just getting started with my new blog. Bringing the latest news on my band, my studio… Hideaway Recording Studio, Inc. and, on occasion, some thoughts about life and the world we live in. But really I think I’m using this as a platform to say thank you to those of you who’ve helped me and my music all along and who have supported my studio… which is finally putting some food on the table. So, Thank You!

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I’ve been lately with my new band. With some of my best friends in the world, Tim Poole, Jeff Martin and Geni Odgers, we’ve been gigin’ every Saturday night at The Old Northeast Tavern. I believe I have really found a home for my music here in St. Petersburg, FL. I’ve been playing in the area for quite a while but never have I had such a great response to my music. I want to thank all of you who come week in and out to support my band. And a special thank you for those of you who have purchased my music. It’s been a complete honor.

On another positive note, my studio, has been growing in its clientele as well as its capabilities. I continue to upgrade when at all possible offering the latest to all you songwriters and bands. Latest projects include Dustin Overbeek, myself, Isn’t she lovely, Dan & Diane Ost and my good friend… Clyde Moreland, please check these artists out. I’m a lucky guy to be able to work with such talented folks day in and day out. I only wish my buddy Dustin didn’t have to travel from Nashville to record. Miss you man!

Well today is Wednesday Sept 20th (already) and I just want to end by saying… God bless you all and thank you for your continued support for my music and the studio.
